Minecraft's New Avatar Legends Add-On Lets You Master All Four Elements
The new $7.99 add-on brings elemental bending, hidden temples, and the Avatar State to your existing Minecraft worlds.
Minecraft just got a new way to play as the Avatar. The official Avatar Legends Add-On launched on October 16, 2026, bringing elemental bending from Avatar: The Last Airbender into Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.
Created by Gamemode One, the add-on costs 1,340 Minecoins (around $7.99) on the Minecraft Marketplace. Unlike the previous Avatar Legends DLC released in 2022, this version works in your own Minecraft worlds, letting you use bending abilities while building, exploring, or fighting mobs.
Bend All Four Elements With 12 New Abilities
The add-on introduces 12 bending techniques, with three abilities each for earth, fire, water, and air.
Players can raise earth walls to block attacks, use water arms as grappling hooks, launch themselves into the air with fire jets, or summon tornadoes to throw enemies around.
Some abilities are useful outside combat, too. Earthbending can help with mining, while firebending lets you light furnaces and burn through obstacles. Each element also comes with passive bonuses, such as fire immunity or protection from fall damage.
Every technique consumes Chi, an energy resource that gradually regenerates, so players can't spam their strongest moves forever.
Explore Temples and Unlock the Avatar State
Becoming a fully powered Avatar takes more than simply choosing an element.
Players start with one bending style and must explore different biomes to discover hidden elemental temples. Inside, familiar Avatar Spirits like Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, and Korra help unlock new elements.
Using bending abilities earns Mastery Points, which can be spent at Meditation Points to learn techniques and upgrade Chakras.
The ultimate reward is the Avatar State, a powerful transformation that grants temporary invincibility and stronger bending abilities without Chi restrictions. Before fully mastering it, the ability can also activate automatically when players take what would otherwise be fatal damage.
The system gives players something to work toward instead of handing them every power at the start.
How to Get the Avatar Legends Add-On
Avatar Legends is available now for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition through the official Minecraft Marketplace.
The add-on can be enabled in new or existing worlds. However, elemental temples only generate in previously unexplored areas, so players using an older world may need to travel farther to find them.
Minecraft is also offering a free Blue Spirit mask Character Creator item to celebrate the release.
For anyone who played the original 2022 Avatar Legends adventure, this is a separate purchase with a different focus. Rather than following a pre-built story, you're bringing bending into your usual Minecraft experience.

Being able to use bending in a world you've already built is easily the most interesting part of this release. The older Avatar DLC was fun, but having to play on a separate map made it feel disconnected from regular Minecraft.
This approach feels like a better fit. I'd be curious to see how useful the powers are once the novelty wears off, but hunting down temples and slowly unlocking new abilities sounds like a pretty good reason to start exploring again.
